Article in Scientific Reports journal published within the project supported by the Russian Science Foundation

Researchers of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics, the Medical Institute of Orel State University, Orel Regional Clinical Hospital, University of Oulu (Finland) and Aston University (UK) published an article in Scientific Reports journal (Q1, IF = 3.998, Nature Research publishing house). The article "Optical percutaneous needle biopsy of the liver: a pilot animal and clinical study" presents the results of experimental studies using a specially developed original optical biopsy system for in vivo diagnostics during percutaneous needle biopsy of liver neoplasms. The implementation of this technology will improve the quality of diagnostics of biological tissues state by providing additional diagnostic information in real time, which in turn will improve the effectiveness of treatment. These studies were carried out within the project No. 18-15-00201 " Clinical and experimental substantiation of multiparametric optical biopsy of hepatopancreatoduodenal zone organs for minimally invasive surgical operations", supported by the Russian Science Foundation.

We congratulate the authors on their publication and wish them further success in their research!
