John Kiel scholarship and participation in SPIE Photonics West 2020

An employee of the Laboratory of Cell Physiology and Pathology of Orel State University and the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology of Sechenov University, a research associate of the scientific department of Retinoids company Gennadii Piavchenko is the first Russian who was awarded the prestigious John Kiel Award. The award was received for potential contribution in the field of biomedical photonics and optics (for joint work with the R&D Center of Biomedical Photonics).

Participation in the VII All-Russian School-Conference on Physiology and Pathology of Blood Circulation

February 3-6, 2020, the VII All-Russian School-Conference on Physiology and Pathology of Blood Circulation was held at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The section "Matters of the heart: electrical, mechanical and regulatory" was attended by the trainee researcher of R&D Center of Biomedical Photonics Evgeniya Seryogina (masters student on Biotechnical Systems and Technologies, Biomedical Photonics and Electronics direction).

Work on “megagrant” during the visit of the leading scientist

Intensive work continues as part of the implementation of the “megagrant” on the topic “Mitochondria as a target in the mechanism of neurodegenerative diseases”. Over the past week a series of experiments was conducted to determine the reactive oxygen species and the antioxidant protection in various areas of the brain.

The annual Scientific-practical seminar "Korndorf Readings – 2019"

November 8, 2019 the annual Scientific-practical seminar "Korndorf Readings – 2019" was held in Orel State University. This seminar is dedicated to one of the outstanding scientists of our University, Professor, PhD, Dr Sergey F. Korndorf (1918-2012), who created scientific school of electrical methods of nondestructive testing, photoelectric devices and measurement methods, including methods and tools for biomedical research.

Open Lecture by Plamena Stroh (Angelova), Senior Research Associate, University College London

November 30, 2019, the Orel State University named after I.S. Turgenev hosted an open lecture on the topic "Molecular mechanism of Neurodegeneration: Mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitophagy, autophagy and lysosomal defects" by one of the leading scientists in this field - Dr Plamena Stroh (Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Neurology, University College London).

Successful performance at the competition-conference on optics and laser physics in Samara

November 12-15 2019, the XVII All-Russian Youth Competition-Conference of Scientific Works on Optics and Laser Physics was held in Samara. The competition was attended by trainee researchers of Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics Ksenia Kandurova (master’s student in Biotechnical systems and technologies, direction "Biomedical Photonics and electronics") and Valery Shupletsov (master’s student in Instrumentation).

Open lecture by the leading scientist in the field of polarimetry Tatiana Novikova (France)

October 4, 2019, Orel State University held the open lecture " Multi-spectral Liquid Crystal-based Imaging Mueller Polarimetry for Biomedical Applications" by the leading scientist in this field – Tatiana Novikova (Head of the applied optics and polarimetry group, Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films, École Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France).

Successful presentation at the XXIII International School for Students and Young Scientists in Optics, Laser Physics and Biophotonics «Saratov Fall Meeting 2019»

September 23 to 27, 2019, Saratov National Research State University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky held the XXIII international conference "Saratov Fall Meeting-2019". The conference and the scientific school was attended by students and PhD students working in Research and Development Center of Biomedical Photonics.
